To All Who Journey into the Depths of Life and Acoustics
"What is life? What is sound?"
Pursuing these fundamental questions to their ultimate limits leads us into the "micro" realm of elementary particles and wavelengths, and the "macro" realm of the vast universe. Music—and above all, acoustic phenomena—are no exception. Therefore, at the deepest level of their smallest units, there exists an "activation field of the highest-dimensional and most powerful wavelength (Life Force)" where the micro and macro overlap in a self-similar "fractal."
To establish this principle as our modern music—the "gravity and perspective of sound," the rationale of a three-dimensional foundation elucidated by Paul Hindemith—the language of the ultimate Eastern life philosophies, such as Ichinen Sanzen (Three Thousand Realms in a Single Moment of Life) and the Ku-shiki Ron (The Nine Consciousnesses / Amala-vijnana), was absolutely unavoidable.
Let me be explicitly clear: there is no "specific religious framework" in this discourse.
The use of these terms here is not to recommend any specific religious framework. Rather, it stems from a pure academic and philosophical necessity: in order to describe the system of the great universe, we had no choice but to learn from the ultimate linguistic tools left by our Eastern predecessors.
Therefore, it is addressed to experts pursuing truth across all disciplines—music, history, physics, philosophy—and ultimately, to the "future humanity of Earth" living beyond the synthesis of Aufheben.
Why does a musician speak of such things?
It is because sound is the very "harmony of the great universe," enveloping life without harming any form of existence.
The bloodline inherited from my late father, Teruaki Kokubu, and the deep sea of logic in the "Fusion of East and West."
Please feel with your own life the brilliance of "THE SUN OF A NEW BEGINNING," rising from the foundation of the purest life force that lies along this continuum.

“Seeking New Metrics for Music”
In this era of prolonged chaos, the debut album by THE SUPER 3 (TS3) has been born, merging the rhythm of the Asian continent with the profound spirituality of Japan. The central message of the track "Spring Flower," “Winter Always Returns to Spring,” serves as the underlying theme for this entire album. Much like the eternal cycle of the seasons, it represents a spiral evolution within history—a grand musical approach by TS3 rooted in the inclusive "Fundamental Law of the Macrocosm."
I. The Universal Law and Three-Dimensional Harmony: The "3D Basis of Sound"
This Fundamental Law of the Macrocosm (the Law of Nature) exists inherently within sound itself, such as the 12-semitone chromatic scale. I grasped its core by deciphering The Craft of Musical Composition by Paul Hindemith (d. 1963) alongside Modern Jazz Composition by my late father, the great jazz pianist Teruaki Kokubu.
In his treatise, Hindemith revealed the existence of Series 1 (the affinity and distance reflected between a central tone and all other tones) and Series 2 (the Interval Tonic, which possesses a gravitational force within a cluster of sounds). Ultimately, these series prove the existence of a "three-dimensional natural order" accompanied by a sense of 3D depth within sound.
II. Acoustic Physics and the Philosophy of "Ichinen Sanzen"
The origins of this theory trace back to the harmonics of Pythagoras and, ultimately, to the Buddhist principle of "Ichinen Sanzen" (Three Thousand Realms in a Single Moment of Life). This principle posits that the entire macrocosm and all phenomena across time and space are contained within a single moment of life.
Pythagoras attempted to mathematically explain the "2D basis of sound" (horizontal and vertical) by comparing the seven-note scale to the sun and its planets. While Western music is built upon this foundation, a true "3D" reality requires the addition of "depth" or "affinity."
From the perspective of neuroscience and psychoacoustics, pitch perception is recognized as a 2D model where sounds align horizontally and spiral vertically. However, through the lens of Ichinen Sanzen, this is understood as a high-dimensional field of "elementary particles" (the 9th Consciousness) flowing beneath the collective unconscious (the Akashic Records/8th Consciousness).
Hindemith identified the "Affinity" between a central tone and others as the "3D Basis of Sound." When overlaid with Ichinen Sanzen, the acoustic phenomenon corresponds to the "Realm of the Five Components" (the self) and the "Realm of the Environment" (the external world). The subject acting upon these is the "Realm of Living Beings," which experiences the full spectrum from suffering to joy. The auditory "Central Tone" represents the "Buddha Realm" (Absolute Harmony), while the distances (affinities) represent the "Mutual Possession of the Ten Realms." Hindemith’s "Extended Harmony"—which maintains tonality even while deviating from it—is a practical theory that perfectly aligns with this universal law.
III. "The Third Sun" Unleashed by Extended Harmony
Hindemith’s "Extended Harmony" fundamentally overturned the concept of composition. I have applied this theory in light of Ichinen Sanzen to create this debut album with TS3.
While traditional 7-note scales remain possible within the 12-tone system, the greatest strength of Extended Harmony lies in its transition to a 3D foundation, dramatically expanding the possibilities of harmony while liberating it from traditional constraints.
While I am convinced that this German-born technique will play a vital role in creating new jazz and pop music, the "Third Sun of a New Beginning" now rising over the global horizon is a modern revival of the ancient spirit; it is a "Synthesis/Aufheben" against the harmful effects of mechanistic thought that has fragmented all things.
It is crucial, not only in music but in all fields, to re-establish our relationship with the "Law of the Macrocosm" and create values of Benefit, Goodness, and Beauty for the sake of all humanity.
IV. A New Metric to Enrich the Music of the Future
TS3’s distinctive music inherits the traditions and innovations of our predecessors, resurrected through Hindemith’s insight and the ultimate wisdom of Ichinen Sanzen. I profoundly believe that this vision presented by SAMURAI LABEL will serve as a Global Synthesis transcending East and West, becoming a new metric for the music of the coming era and enriching the musical landscape of the future.
